Configuring EuroScope
Once EuroScope is installed, you will need to configure it to download the Virtual Skies server information. To do so, run EuroScope (EuroScope.exe) and once it has loaded up follow these steps: ''''Bold text On the toolbar (at the top) next to the time you will see a small button saying 'Other Set'. Click that button then click the 'General Settings...' option from the drop down menu.
At the bottom of the the settings, you will see a 'Who's Online URL' and displayed will be
http://vatsim.metacraft.com/satnet-data.txt
Highlight all of the URL and replace it with:
http://status.virtual-skies.com/whazzup.txt
Once this is replaced press 'Ok' then close EuroScope (click the 'X' in top right). You will be prompted to save the settings you have just changed, you may save these to a location of your choice - but we suggest to save it to the root directory for EuroScope. Please MAKE SURE you click save on all prompts that appear.
Connecting To The Server As An Observer
- Create a callsign (XXX_OBS) eg. User Fred Samuel Jones would be FSJ_OBS
- Select your appropriate rating (All members are observer by default)
- Type your real name that you are registered with otherwise, you will be disconnected!
- Underneath the 'Server' drop down box click the 'Load Servers' button. Once you have clicked this, click the down arrow on the dropdown menu (to make the menu appear) and select a server from the list. (All servers start with VS)
- Fill in your CID & Password
- Select your facility as 'Observer'
As an observer you are not allowed more than 200nm of visibility range
Connecting As A Controller
- Select the appropriate callsign for your position (XXXX_GND/_TWR/_APP/_CTR/...)
- Select your appropriate rating (you are not allowed to control as an observer)
- Type your real name
- Load the server list and select the server you would like to connect to
- Fill in your CID & Password
- Select the appropriate facility/position (eg:Tower, Approach, Center)
You will be shown how to set up an ATIS & Frequency on your first mentoring session.

How to set up a frequency When connected, in the toolbar next to your callsign you will see a picutre of a heaset with a 1 by it.
- Click The Headset (Double Click)
- Fill In Name The Same As Your Callsign
- Fill frequency as required
- Fill server as eu.virtual-skies.com
- Fill channel the same as callsign (lower case)
Open TeamSpeak 2 client, connect to server eu.virtual-skies.com with your nickname as your callsign, login name and password as your CID & Password. If a channel for your callsign is not already present, right click on an exisiting channel and click 'Create Channel'. Fill in the channel name as you callsign and tick the registered box at the bottom.
Virtual Skies suggests that you read the user guide before controlling.
Opening A Sector File
When in EuroScope, click the 'Open SCT' menu (1) next to the time in the toolbar of the program. Then to load a EuroScope sector (.asr extension) click open (2), or to open a normal sector (.sct or .sct2) click Load Sector file (3). If you are loading a normal sector file, EuroScope will say it is an invalid file format - please ignore this. Close the error window then go back to the 'Open SCT' menu and click 'New' (4).
Trouble Shoot
- If when clicking 'Load Servers' in the connect dialog it returns the VATSIM servers, go to the directory EuroScope is installed in (eg C:\Program Files\EuroScope) and check for a file named ipaddr.txt - if this exists delete it. Then restart EuroScope.
